With all the hype around the big consoles, theres one attraction that stands out. If you go to the lower level expo
floor at E3 youll find some of the smaller companies. CD cleaners, accessory designers, and a mini museum of the
classics. Here are some pics, courtesy of Jason C.

So many good ideas that deserve to be revisited. The people making most of these devices were striving for innovation... new ways to entertain people. This isn't a rant for what Nintendo is or is not planning with Revolution, or a rip on Microsoft or Sony.So far the only thing that I'm excited to see with this new generation is improved AI. The graphics thing becomes secondary almost immediately. Better games, new experiences, not rehashed gameplay with a new weapon or better splatter physics- that's what gaming needs.I think the future is peripherals. EyeToy, DonkeyCongas, Dance Pads..ech, VR, Voice command, touch command, gyroscopes, etc. I hope that's what Nintendo's been hinting at...

Different type of input devices are not the only type of innovations that we need to make entertainment more enjoyable. What's the point of having a triangle controller where only one game can use it? All these old gaming platforms/accessories failed miserably because of the lack of games that supported them. I feel innovation relies mostly in how much time they placed of software or hardware. Videogames have evolved from a gimmicky subculture to a real mainstream entertainment source. I feel that for now on innovation is going to be software only because R&D for new peripherals is very expensive. Its like the movie industry, games will eventurally be judged by content and not graphics as we advance in technology.

You know what I miss? The gun.The old Nintendo blaster rocked.I know there have been games that you could buy a gun for but the gun would only work with that game. What we need is a standard gun for the console. How awsome would it be if in the middle of GTA you could use a physical hand gun controller?
