E3: Nintendo part two
Posted May 19, 2005, 4:51 PM ET by Ben Zackheim
Nintendos booth also has a lineup of DS consoles where people can play multiplayer
Metroid. If youve played the demo youve seen it all, but it is cool to be able to just sit down and bash
heads.
On the tech side theyre showing off DSpeak, an IP phone tech that seems to work really
well. If you want, you can sit down and talk to pretty people via a vid conference setup (the voice is done with the
DS). Fast and clear are the words of the day, but theres no way Im sitting down and talking to these people. I
overheard one of the models say Nintendo will continue to change peoples lives. Hey, its okay for gamers to say
that, but it just doesnt sound right coming from the mouth of an N employee.
Hey, Pokemon is here. Who knew?
Dancing with Mario can wear a girl out. They asked me to dance and I said no. Revenge at
last for my high school years!
Im going to go get some hands-on time with Yoot Saitos Odama. Be back asap.

I think DSpeak is one of scarely products coming out from Nintendo... This gonna be most practical, cheapest and funniest IP phone device on the earth (if you don't mind its look.). You know how other company are struggling to develop this kind of thing. They probably spend a lot of time on this, but they are saying "Isn't this fun?" putting it as just a comment at E3.

I was thinking the same thing. Voip with a DS would be a really easy way to set Voip up. I might think about buying one for my mom that lives out of town as an easy and cheap way to talk and we'd also get to play mario.

They're actually called Nployees, not N employees...I'm just being a jerk 'cos you're at E3 and I'm not. From the outside looking in though, Nintendo Revolution and Xbox360 are really, REALLY exciting, and Sony is managing to look like a big Asshat. I think this and a good amount of online sentiment looks this way as well.
